WHAT IS THE NORTH CAROLINA
HISPANIC COLLEGE FUND?
Established by the North Carolina Society of Hispanic Professionals (NCSHP) in 2004, the NC Hispanic College Fund awards college scholarships worth between $500 and $2,500.
Scholarship recipients are recent graduates of North Carolina high schools who are of Hispanic/Latino background. High school graduates who are selected to receive our scholarships are talented youth who have demonstrated outstanding academic achievement, leadership potential, and a commitment to community service.
Scholarships are awarded by a selection committee that includes the President of the NC Society of Hispanic Professionals, the Chair of the Scholarship Committee, and at least one educator with experience in educating Hispanic youth.
NCSHP is partnering with Triangle Community Foundation (TCF) to manage the Fund's assets. TCF is a non-profit organization with expertise in managing non-profit funds. The Foundation can receive contributions in the form of checks, stock, credit card or other gift vehicles. Nearly all of the money contributed to the fund is distributed in scholarships. Administrative costs are limited to investment costs and the cost of distributing application materials and other information about the Fund.

NC HISPANIC COLLEGE FUND?
The Hispanic community is the fastest growing population in North Carolina and contributes over $2 billion to our local economy. An investment in Hispanic high school graduates is an investment in the future of North Carolina.
Without financial support to attend college, our Hispanic youth will not be able to realize their full economic and social potential. Currently, less than one-third of Hispanic high school graduates in the U.S. go on to college.
One out of every two Hispanic youth lives in poverty and almost 80 percent of Hispanic youth must drop out of college due to lack of funds. Your contribution will help to ensure that the best and brightest Hispanic youth have the opportunity to earn a college degree.
The scholarship awards ceremony takes place during the annual Hispanic Educational Summit in front of several hundred 7th to 12th grade
Hispanic students across the state.
